Xinran Zhu, Ph.D. candidate, has received a research grant from Social Science Research Council (supported by The Summer Institutes in Computational Social Science), as a co-PI. The awarded project aims to examine factors that drive inter-institutional collaboration in the field of computational social science towards knowledge advancement, by constructing collaboration networks and investigating longitudinal network evolution via network modeling.

A study by Learning Technologies PhD students Xinran Zhu and Hong Shui won the Best Student Paper Award at the 29th International Conference on Computers in Education. The work, “Designing Support for Productive Social Interaction and Knowledge Co-construction in Collaborative Annotation,” was also nominated for the Best Research Paper Award category. The study, part of the Collaborative Annotation in College Classrooms Project, has practical implications for online teaching and collaborative learning. Read more.
